Sydnie's First Crush

I know you were expecting a picture of a little boy with that title. But yes my little girl has become quite infatuated with my good friend and neighbor Audrey. Every time she comes over she practically begs Audrey to pick her up and then when she does, Sydnie giggles and acts so excited you would think somebody gave her a piece of candy. It doesn't end there, when Audrey has to leave, you wouldn't believe the tantrum Sydnie throws once the door is closed. She is getting better about it, but the first couple times she must have cried for a good 15 min. Audrey is nice and takes her to her house to play every once and awhile. I think Sydnie has fun exploring a new house with new toys, and what might be the object of a real crush, a cute little boy Sydnie's age Audrey's son, Michael.

Six Teeth in and Six Teeth Out

Kaylee lost her sixth tooth yesterday and I realized I have two kids on the opposite end of the teeth spectrum. Sydnie recently had two teeth break through, her fifth and sixth. So, while my oldest child is on her way to losing all of her baby teeth my youngest is just getting hers in. Time flies doesn't it.

I just had to add this cute picture of Sydnie in this post. I've finally gotten her to wear her hats. She gets lots of attention at the grocery stores whenever she wears them.

SWIMMING LESSONS
We just got done with a two week session of swimming lessons. We have resorted to signing up for swimming lessons in the fall and in the spring instead of the summer. The only pool in the area serves several medium sized communities and it is nearly impossible to get a class in the summer. Brianne did well she is finally getting used to the water, she has always loved playing around in the pool but has a hard time getting her face in the water. This time with the help of some goggles she was more daring. Kaylee actually passed her class to the next level. She is getting to be a pretty good swimmer. In order to go to the next level she had to be able to swim 25 feet of the breast stroke and 25 feet of the back stroke. Sorry these pictures aren't the greatest I had to zoom in and I don't have the most steady hand when it is on zoom.

Here is Kaylee doing some life jacket training. She is the one with the pink goggles.

Well, my Christmas craft show at the Mini Bazaar starts tomorrow. So I thought I would post a few photo's of my new stuff. This is what I have been spending my life doing for the last few weeks. I always breath such a sigh of relief when I get my Christmas craft show all set up, and I know I am done making crafts for a couple months. Now I can relax a little for the holiday's.

This is my Christmas stuff. I was especially excited about the countdown calendar and the countdown blocks. I made a set for myself too.

This is my girl stuff. The top two are magnet boards. The middle is a dry erase board and the bottom are new versions of my butterfly and flower wall hangings.

These are my other magnet boards. They are covered in fabric.

Crazy over Hats
Well, I went to Idaho Falls to set up for my craft show this weekend and my mother in law Kathy showed me how to crochet these cute hats. These are the smaller ones I made for Sydnie, I still haven't managed to get her to leave them on her head for more than a few seconds. I'm going to keep working on that, because I think they look so cute on her. I also made a few larger ones for Kaylee and Brianne. We had fun this weekend. The girls had fun at both their grandmas houses and playing with their cousins, Shaun went on a marathon hunting and fishing outing with his brothers, and when I wasn't working on setting up my craft show, it's pretty obvious what I was doing, crocheting hats.

Here are the directions for those of you who know how to crochet.
(These instructions are actually mostly for my own benefit in case I decide to make more of these in the future and forget how.)

You can use whatever yard you would like acrylic yarn is a little heavier and cotton yarn is a little more lightweight.
I used a k hook but I have a pretty tight stitch so you may want to use a j or smaller if you have a loose stitch.
1. Start by chain stitching five then slip stitch into the first chain to create a loop.
2. Then chain 3
3. First circle:
Double crochet and chain 1. repeat 7-12 times depending on what size you want your hat. For me I fount that 9 double crochet was the perfect size for my 1 year old and 11 DC's was perfect for my older girls. but you will have to experiment to find the right number for the size you need.
4. slip stitch into the first double crochet (the chain 3 of step 2) Then chain 3 again.
5. Second circle:
Double crochet twice in between each double crochet of first circle. Chain 1 in between each set of DC's. Slip stitch to finish circle.
6. Third Circle:
Chain 2 then double crochet between each double crochet and each chain 1 of second circle.
slip stitch to finish circle.
7. Fourth Circle:
Chain 2 then double crochet twice, between each DC chain 1 of third circle. Slip stitch to complete circle
8. Fifth Circle:
Chain 2 then double crochet twice, between each Double crochet set you did in fourth circle. slip stitch to complete circle. This step is a little hard to describe. but you want to make sure you have the same number of double crochet sets when you are done with this circle as you did in the fourth circle.
9. Repeat step 8 until the hat is as long as you want it.
10. Band: after you slip stitch to finish your last circle. Single crochet in each stitch of your last circle. Keep single crochet until you have about four rows or your band is about 1 inch. Finish it off. And you are done!

Sydnie,Our Little Mess Maker

Lately Sydnie is into everything

Looks like she found the pretzels

And the marshmallows

And now that Halloween is over she is constantly on the prowl for Halloween buckets left in her reach.

No, our children don't bleed blue blood, Sydnie likes to find Kaylee and Brianne's markers and bite the tips off. Notice the path of destruction in the background.

And last of all the shower, technically she didn't make a mess of the shower, she just made a mess with her p.j.'s, by crawling in the shower with Kaylee and Brianne, with her pajamas still on.
